Definition

Under general direction, to repair, overhaul, and maintain a wide variety of audiovisual
equipment; to assist in preparing specifications for and recommending the purchase of new
equipment; and to do related work consistent with the job description .

Examples of Duties

Repairs and completely overhauls a wide variety of audio-visual equipment; rebuilds
equipment as necessary; alters equipment as necessary to meet special requirements; uses,
repairs, and maintains shop equipment; maintains records of repairs and conditions of
equipment; advises supervisor when equipment should be replaced; assists in preparing
specifications for new equipment, reviews bids submitted by vendors; demonstrates the use
of equipment to faculty members; orders and maintains parts inventory; trains and assigns
work to part-time helpers; maintains and enters data through the use of computer terminals;
conducts inspections and inventories of equipment

Employment Standards

A.

Knowledge of:

Methods and techniques of cleaning, testing, repairing, and replacing
electronic and mechanical components of audio-visual equipment;

Basic electronic theory and practices;

Safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance of electronic
equipment;

The uses and limitations of various types of audio-visual equipment.

B.

Ability to:

Clean, test, repair, and replace electrical and mechanical components on all
of audio-visual equipment;
Repair and overhaul electric motors in audio-visual equipment;

instructions;

Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;

Maintain accurate and complete inventory and inspection records;

Education/Training/Experience:

Completion of 12th grade or equivalent and three years
experience in the maintenance and repair of audio-visual or related
equipment.
