I.Title Categorical Program Assistant (I-II)*
II.Definition
Under the direction of the building Principal, to provide assistance to the administrative and support staff for categorical services, general coordination of program activities, and perform related duties as required.
III.Examples of Duties
Plan, prepare, and implement activities related to categorical duties such as: developing and distributing informational materials, School Site Council and/or School Advisory Committee meeting agendas and minutes, assist with support services and activities by providing information to the instructional staff, budget development and implementation project communications, assisting with program scheduling, helping to plan and implement special events, field trip, and ceremonies, conducting surveys and preparing reports as requested, coordinating evaluation program, maintaining records for documentation and audit files, organizing, distributing, collecting, and compiling results of testing, ordering, inventorying, distributing instructional materials, establishment and maintenance of EDY lists, coordinating, scheduling, and monitoring cross-age tutors and parent volunteers; and performing other assignments as requested.

V.Employment Standards
A.Knowledge of: Categorical programs and general knowledge of elementary school functions desirable.
B.Ability to: Relate to students, instructors, other staff members, and community groups; Communicate clearly and concisely in both verb al and written form; Organize and implement activities with minimal supervision.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Two years of higher education or equivalent training and/or experience. Two years of experience in areas related to the program assignment desirable.
* NOTE Determining of higher level position is based upon responsibility and meeting two elements of the following criteria:
(1) School participation over 500 students.
(2)School has more than one Categorical Aid program
(3)School categorical budget exceeds $180,000
