I. Title District Attendance Control Technician III
II.Definition
Under general supervision, performs technical and specialized functions unique to the establishment and maintenance of a complex set of interrelated records, which serve as the basis for attendance recording; prepares difficult reports and to do related work consistent with the job description.
III.Examples of Duties
Audit student, course assignment and attendance information for accuracy, completeness and compliance; maintains and enters data through use of computer terminals; collects data and prepares, or helps to prepare, complex reports; communicates with appropriate District personnel to collect, monitor, maintain, and correct student, course and/or attendance data; audits various reports, identifies discrepancies and researches supporting documents to reconcile them; coordinates the flow of student information to appropriate departments; distributes and monitors the movement of enrollment packets and maintains enrollment packet records; instructs other district personnel regarding student master file, course master file and attendance recording; requests extracts of data for local, State, and Federal reports; maintains log of department records in storage; acts independently in a variety of situations to enforce District policies and procedures regarding registration, scheduling, and attendance; and works with Information Systems personnel to maintain data processing programs related to student, course, and attendance information; assists the supervisor with the overall operation of the department.
IV.Distinguishing Characteristics
This position will serve as Lead Control Technician in the department and will coordinate the work of other employees.
V.Employment Standards
A.Knowledge of: Principles, practices, terminology, and documents used in attendance accounting; System control procedures required in a computerized system; Modern office procedures,practices, and equipment, including typewriter, calculator, and computer terminal.
B.Ability to: Analyze a variety of records, identify discrepancies and correct them with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and speed; Make arithmetical calculations with accuracy, efficiency, and speed; Audit, maintain, and prepare difficult reports from a variety of records; Operate a typewriter, calculator, computer terminal, and other office machines; Apply District rules/policies, and State laws related to duties with expertise in a variety of situations; Deal effectively with a wide variety of individuals requiring tact and courtesy and to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships;Analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action; Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent and/or any combination of education and experience or training which meets or exceeds standards of knowledge, skills and abilities listed above. Four years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, preferably in the area of attendance accounting.
