I.Title Duplicating Machine Operator I

I.Definition

Under general supervision, to operate duplicating machines and other equipment to reproduce a variety of printed materials; and to do related work as required.

III.Examples of Duties

Operates mimeograph, ditto, spirit and photocopies machines to reproduce a variety of printed materials; keeps machines clean and in good working order; operates Vari-Typer; selects proper type style and size and sets up type for correct justification of copies from handwritten or typed copies; from rough drafts, prepares layouts for Graphic Art Camera; operates Graphic Art Camera and mixes solution for developing film; strips and opaques negatives and makes plates for offset duplicating machine; may type duplicating masters; keeps inventory of required supplies and submits requisitions for new supplies; may supervise student help; occasionally, makes transparencies for overhead projector and file plates.

A. Knowledge of: Basic methods, processes and materials used in mimeograph, ditto, and photocopy duplication and the operation of standard duplicating machines.

 

B.Ability to: Operate duplicating machines efficiently and economically; Learn the operation of a Graphic Art Camera; Follow oral and written instructions; Maintain cooperative working relationships.

 

C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of the twelfth grade and one year experience in the operation of duplicating machines.
