I.Title Instructional Associate/Campus Assistant
II.Definition
Under the supervision of a school site administrator to assist in the supervision of student activities on the junior and senior high school campuses and supervises students on referral or in-house suspension in a contained environment and to do related work as required.
III.Examples of Duties
May assist administrative staff with supervision of students on the campus, in restrooms, areas immediately adjacent to the campus, and the parking lots: is visible at all times to students and staff; refers students according to established school process to appropriate administrative staff, as necessary; makes quick. accurate and objective assessments of campus situations and uses initiative and judgment in dealing with such situations; may issue referrals for campus rule infractions; discusses infractions with students and informally counsels when possible; keeps undesirable non-student visitors off campus and maintains a log of such contacts; works individually with problem students as time permits; may be requested to meet with community groups on off-campus problems and participate in parent/student conferences; assists in the registration of motor vehicles; maintains outside book lockers; assists in enforcing school rules regarding smoking; supervises campus for drug related activities; and serves as student advocate in some situations. Supervises students referred to administrators; communicates with student, administrator. staff and parent; processes and logs referrals; and provides minimal tutoring. Associate will be responsible for no more than 12 students at any given time.

This position is not nor may it replace an OCS position.
