II. Definition
Under general supervision to sort and distribute District inner office and U.S. Mail and to act as relief receptionist as required.
III.Examples of Duties
On a daily basis sorts and distributes District inner office mail for schools and department administrators. Schedules and processes bulk mailings and presorts first class mailings for schools and departments. Maintains records on U.P.S. Service, Parcel Post and Insured packages. Processes and distributes all U.S. mail for Administration and Business offices. Attends postal seminars and workshops given by the Post Office on mailing updates and price increases. Relieves the receptionist during break and lunch daily, or as required.
IV. Distinguishing Characteristics
Sorts and distributes all mail. Delivers mail to building departments and picks up inner District and U.S. Mail. Relieves the receptionist as required.
V. Employment Standards
A. Knowledge of:
- Postal regulations and requirements;
- Use of Pitney Bowes Mailing machine and computerized accessories;
- District departments and personnel.
B. Ability to:
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
- Learn District policy and procedures relating to inner District U.S. mail service;
- Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
C. Education/Training/Experience:Completion of 12th grade or equivalent, or any combination of education, experience and training which meets or exceeds the standards of knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
