I.Title Maintenance Lead
II. Definition
Under general supervision, to coordinate and guide projects and work as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance. This department is responsible for the building maintenance of all district property. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a broad framework of standard policies and procedures. The lead commits approximately 25% of the day to coordination and 75% to personal work orders assigned to be repaired by the lead; and related duties consistent with the job description.
III. Examples of Duties
Act as a liaison between assigned workers and other district personnel; may recommend departmental procedures and needs; acts as information and technical source for assigned workers regarding work methods, procedures, and problem solving; assists and prepares reports and correspondence and maintains time and production records related to assigned functions; assists and maintains current information on safety rules, state, and federal regulations, and district policies and contracts; assists, coordinates and guides the work of projects and other work as assigned by the Supervisor; assists and maintains inventory control, time, production, and district preventative maintenance program records; assists Supervisor in estimates, schedules work hour requirements for the completion of job assignment, and district preventative maintenance program; assists and trains workers in effective use of work techniques and equipment; may assume some duties of these workers under his/her assignment; must have knowledge of current District general operation procedures, rules, precedent policy of the District and department, and must be able to interpret and apply this information in their work with the general public; organize, monitor and accurately maintain detailed reports, invoices, and other materials that are required; performs other related activities as required.

V.Employment Standards
A.Knowledge of: Tools, materials, equipment and standard practices of trades and maintenance repair work. Safe work procedures and practices. City, State, and Federal Codes related to facilities.B.Ability to: Learn, interpret, and apply rules and policies relating to programs Perform difficult and responsible work with speed and accuracy; Use a computer terminal using word processing, CADD, database and spread sheet software, and other applications utilized by the Maintenance Department; Analyze situations and recommend an effective course of action; Meet the public tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships under pressure; Deal with high stress situations in a calm and tactful manner; Effectively meet established deadlines and schedules; Prepare accurate reports and correspondence; Use and operate a variety of tools and equipment;
C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent and three years of increasingly responsible experience.
D. Licenses/Certificates: Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License. Journeyman card holder or the equivalent.
