II. Definition
Working under general supervision, carries out the activities of the circulating collection of the Instructional Materials Division or of the support service for school site Learning Resource Centers which includes the ordering and processing of new materials. Employees in this class have the daily functional responsibility for supervising and implementing the circulation of materials to District schools and for organizing and maintaining procedures for the centralized ordering and technical processing of print and non-print materials.
III.Examples of Duties
Deals directly with teachers and administrators in interpreting and applying Instructional Materials Division policies and procedures; develops and maintains circulation records; processes new materials; catalogs materials for district teachers circulates preview materials and maintains preview records; assists in the preparation of the Instructional Materials Division catalog; uses a computer to create and maintain records for circulation of materials, including catalog cards provides informal instructions to users on the organization of the circulating collection; compiles reports and tabulates data, analyzes data and recommends needed changes in the policies and procedures for the operation of the department analyzes circulation, inventory and condition of collection and proposes expenditures for new, duplicate or replacement materials; has responsibility for the inspection and maintenance of circulating materials including on-site and commercial repair; is responsible for the daily circulating procedures of materials to district schools; provides assistance to elementary Learning Resources Center staffs in the organization and maintenance of their collections, does routine clerical work related to specified duties.

A. Knowledge of:
- Principles of supervision and training;
- Standard office procedures and common office machines;
- Standard library reference materials such as Dewey Decimal manuals and Sears List of Subject Headings;
- Media processing and filing procedures;
- Basic mechanics of English language including spelling and vocabulary;
- Basic computational skills involving simple arithmetic;
- General types and uses of instructional media.
B. Ability to:
- Meet the public and handle problems with courtesy and tact;
- Do detailed work with accuracy;
- Alphabetize and file rapidly and accurately;
- Organize and carry out own work program with very little supervision;
- Plan and organize work assignments for assigned clerks as appropriate;
- Work harmoniously with other personnel and patrons.
C.Education/Training/Experience:
Completion of the twelfth grade and two years successful experience as a district Media Clerk II or equivalent.
