Under general supervision, to do skilled work in preparing surfaces and mixing, matching and applying paints; and to do related work as required.
III.Examples of Duties
Erects scaffolding for either interior or exterior work, mixes paints of various consistencies and colors for exterior smooth and rough plaster and concrete work; tapes and repairs sheetrock; cares for painting equipment such as airless and conventional spray equipment, brushes, solutions, and ladders; does staining and varnishing; patches plaster; applies paints to all types of surfaces; repairs vinyls; makes cost and time estimates and orders materials needed; keeps records of materials used; assists other crafts when called upon and as time allows.

V.Employment Standards
A. Knowledge of:
Standard practices, materials, and processes of the painting trades; Use of oils, driers, and pigments, for the preparation of paints and stains in their application to various types of surfaces; Use of airless and conventional spray equipment and repair.
B. Ability to: Perform skilled painting work; Judge the proper paint requirements for all types of surfaces;Mix, match, and apply paints to all types of surfaces; Line and finish, or line and refinish, gym floors to comply to State recreation department regulations; Lay out and paint lines on playgrounds and parking lots;Paint with airless and conventional spray equipment; Repair vinyls; Finish furniture; Silk screen and sign write; Follow oral and written instructions; Keep simple records.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of 8th grade and is a union journeyman painter with five years experience as a journeyman painter.
