I.Title: Painter Foreman
II. Definition
Under direction, as a working foreman, to supervise painting work in maintaining the buildings and furnishings of the School District; to mix paints and match colors; to assist in writing paint specifications; and to do other work as required. This position performs the budgeting, planning, and inspection necessary for the establishment and maintenance of a regular painting schedule for the School District.
III.Examples of Duties
Supervises painters in painting the interior and exterior of school buildings and the refinishing of furniture and equipment; estimates and orders required paint mix and brushes; mixes paints and matches colors; supervises care of brushes and equipment; makes estimates of time, materials and costs; schedules plastering and painting done by outside contractors; assigns and supervises members of the paint crew assigned to work under his direction; prepares expenditure reports; prepares the annual budget request for the painting section, and when not performing these duties, will be required to work with tools and painters in the field.

V.Employment Standards
A.Knowledge of: Standard practices, safety requirements, methods, materials and equipment used in painting, tinting,and finishing work; Methods of preparing different surfaces for painting and repainting.
B.Ability to: Paint by brush, roller, and spray gun methods; Erect and work from rigging and scaffolding;Mix paints and match colors by machine or hand tint methods; Assist other crafts; Work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints; Coordinate and direct the work of others performing their duties; Meet the public tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships;Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Is a Union journeyman painter with at least five years of experience as a journeyman painter including two years in a supervisory capacity. Completion of the twelfth grade, preferably supplemented by vocational training; or any combination of education, experience and training which meets or exceeds standards of knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
D.Licenses/Certificates:Valid California Driver's License.
