II.Definition
Under general supervision, to do skilled journeyman level work in the installation and repair of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems; and to do related work as required.
III. Examples of Duties
Makes installations of general plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems; is qualified to diagnose and repair all systems without the assistance of manufacturers or outside contractors; should keep up with all current new equipment through either schooling or correspondence; installs water piping and taps water and sewer mains and laterals; installs and repairs steam and hot water systems, and renews pipes, valves, and fittings; repairs water, gas, waste, and drainage pipes; performs troubleshooting work to locate obstructions and leaks in plumbing systems. Cleans out drains and obstructions in water and sewer systems; maintains and repairs heating and air conditioning systems, including pneumatic, electrical or electronic control systems; repairs and adjusts ventilating equipment; installs and repairs water sprinkling systems; may supervise the work of helpers.

A.Knowledge of: The tools, materials, and standard practices of the plumbing trade; Design, construction, installation, and maintenance of plumbing systems and facilities; State, County and City plumbing codes and ordinances.
B.Ability to: Skillfully use plumbing tools and equipment; Work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints;Follow verbal and written directions.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of 12th grade; five years as an apprentice; and five years minimum as a journeyman in one or more of the plumbing, heating, or air conditioning trades.
D.Licenses/Certificates: Appropriate valid California Driver's License.
