I. Title Student Body Account Clerk II (Senior High School)
II. Definition
Under general direction of an administrator in a District high school, to maintain financial records of Student Body and athletic functions, supervise operation of student body store within the provisions of the District's Student Body Procedures manual and do related work consistent with the job description.
III. Examples of Duties
Supervises student tellers; maintains financial records of Student Body accounts; posts income and expenditures to Student Body account ledgers; prepares monthly statements of Student Body account income, expenditures and balances; prepares checks; organizes and maintains procedures for handling of such activities as paid admission events, sale of publications, subscriptions, Student Body cards, student organization collections, and other collections authorized by the Board of Education; exercises immediate supervision over students assisting with ticket sales, cash collections, and Student Store activities. Orders Student Store supplies, and maintains perpetual inventory; handles finances for the athletic program, publications and sale of the school yearbook, and such senior class needs, as caps, gowns, cards and announcements; maintain and enter data through the use of computer terminals; supervises or coordinates work of other clerical staff.
IV. Distinguishing Characteristics
Positions in this class are distinguished from Student Body Account Clerk I by frequently processing large sums of money from athletic events; utilizing computerized equipment, preparing monthly trial balance and reconciling bank statements.
V. Employment Standards
A. Knowledge of:
- The methods and practices of financial recordkeeping, including double entry bookkeeping procedures;
- Modern office methods and accounting terminology.
B. Ability to:
- Meet the public tactfully and courteously and to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships;
- Learn to operate a calculator, computer, cash register and other standard office equipment;
- Make arithmetical calculations with accuracy;
- Effectively supervise students working in the Student Store to provide training in basic store procedures;
- Become familiar with the District's Student Body Procedures manual;
- Relate to students in a warm and caring manner.
C. Education/Training/Experience:
Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and two years of experience in the maintenance of financial or statistical records.
