Definition

Under general supervision, to operate trucks; to load and unload heavy equipment, in a
safe and orderly manner; respond to District emergencies; and to do related work
consistent with the job description.

Examples of Duties

Operates trucks and vehicles; delivers or picks up money mail, parcels and various types
of school materials, supplies, cafeteria supplies, furniture and equipment; assists in trash
pickup at schools; loads, unloads and moves heavy equipment such as large refrigerators,
stoves, art kilns, stack ovens, pianos, metal and wood lathes, band saws, office equipment,
and business machines, various types of gymnastic equipment, may assist in minor repair
or preparation of furniture for refinishing; performs custodial duties as needed; keeps
records of mileage, fuel, oil, and prepares reports of driving hazards, incidents and other
District reports as required; responds to assist in emergency situations such as
vandalism, floods, fire, etc.

A.

Knowledge of:

Operation and maintenance of trucks;

Safe driving regulations.

B.Ability to:
Operate trucks skillfully and in accordance with traffic
regulations;

Perform heavy manual labor;

Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;

Keep accurate daily records, read road maps, follow route log;

Meet the public tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative
and effective working relationships.

C.

Education/Training/Experience:

Completion of 10th grade or equivalent.

D.

Licenses/Certificates:
