Burnett Middle School’s smaller campus and restricted student capacity will enable your child to transition smoothly from an elementary school environment into a middle school community. On campus there is an excitement about the opportunities available for every student. Respected teachers and staff have integrated the rigorous, accelerated instruction of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB-MYP) into every subject area. The curriculum actively encourages students to become aware of the links between different areas of their educational experience.
Another prestigious program on campus is Adobe Youth Voices, lead by teachers who have been recognized by the Adobe Corporation for their teaching excellence. Burnett has partnered with San Jose High to implement a pre-engineering continuum (Gateway to Technology at Burnett), which integrates IB-MYP technology and career opportunities.Showcasing our award winning speech and debate program, Burnett hosts the only Northern California Middle School Speech and Debate Tournament. This year Burnett added a 7th period, which allows qualifying students to include another course into their schedule. The selections include studio art, music, Spanish and technology. These courses reinforce the IB-MYP strand. All students are assured
of significant opportunities to participate in integrated academics, social clubs, and sports.
