Art class students and school "Leadership Class" members worked hard for month's preparing ornaments for the Broadway's Christmas tree entry in the annual "Christmas in the Park" tree.

Each year, Plaza de Cesar Chavez, in downtown San Jose, is transformed into a holiday fantasy with over 60 musical and animated exhibits and glittering lights and the 60-foot City Community Giving Tree. Some of the original displays are housed in one of the largest exhibits, the Lima Train, and include a melting snowman, caroling mice and elf woodcrafters. The Victorian Village, a 25-foot growing Christmas tree surrounded by the animated Nutcracker Suite exhibit and Santa House welcome park visitors. Visitors enter a winter wonderland of lights, songs and entertainment by local schools and groups, and stroll through a forest of trees decorated by San Jose schools, community groups and businesses.

First Place Winner!

Broadway student, Nizam Jagimari, won the San Jose Unified School District's district-wide safety poster contest.

Students at San Jose Unified School District schools were asked to create and submit designs for a "Safety Line" poster that would inform students of a phone number that they could call anonymously if they needed to report any thefts, vandalism, bullying etc. There were around 200 entries from all over the school district. Broadway was thrilled when Nizam won first place.

Nizam drew the characters you see here on the left, scanned them into Adobe Photoshop and arranged them in this layout.

Broadway participated in the "Willow Glen Beautification Project". Non-profit organizations, local artists, and some schools spent two weekends painting bus benches with designs. Broadway's bench can be found on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Minnesota Avenue near Washington Mutual Bank and across from a Starbucks

One of the many barbeque fundraisers held during the year.
