A Message From Jim Pors, Counseling Department

Broadway has a full time educational counselor who oversees the personal, academic and vocational guidance services offered to the students.

Personal counseling services include:

Attendance improvement motivation
Family relations support
Conflict resolution
When necessary, referrals to outside professional agencies

Examples of academic guidance include:

Credit and graduation assessment
Support team meetings and tutoring referrals
Vocational and career counseling involves assessment, and referrals to local occupational programs
Post-secondary and community college referrals
Financial aid and scholarship information
Job placement assistance

For the past two years several Broadway students have been involved with a special program called the "Teen Dating Violence Prevention Project". After receiving training, these students go to other high schools in the area to make presentations that teach their peers about the elements of a healthy relationship, the warning signs of a dangerous relationship, and what to do if they find themselves in a controlling or unhealthy dating situation.

Please feel free to call if you need more information about our school or email me at: 408-535-6285
