Our is our new nurse on the Broadway campus.

Janet Darrow has been a nurse for 33 years. Before becoming a school nurse she taught pediatric and maternity nursing at San Jose State for 24 years and worked in the hospital setting in pediatrics. She started at Broadway in April of 2007, and is really enjoying working with the Young Families program and all Broadway students.

Janet graduated from Stanford University’s School of Nursing, and received her Master’s degree in the Parent-Child Clinical Nurse Specialist program at University of California, San Francisco. Her School Nurse Credential is from San Jose State.

In her spare time, Janet enjoys reading, traveling, music and politics. She is married and has 2 grown children who graduated from Pioneer High School.


This is Michele Torres’ third year as Broadway’s Campus Supervisor.

Before that, she was a Special Education Instructional Associate at Willow Glen Middle School, as well as a part time Health Aide/Clerk.

Ms. Torres recently enrolled at Sequoia College, so she spends most of her free time studying.

Ellesse Liu is a Special Education Instructional Associate.. She has been working in Special Ed. for 5 years. She is also a principal of a Chinese school here in the Bay area that she helped establish.

She is also a “Smarty” program coordinator with the city of San Jose. She works for Parks and Recreation for the city of San Jose as well. “I have been here almost 20 years and I love America.”

For fun, she sets up at the Chinese New Year and Children’s Discovery Museum, displaying Chinese knotting, paper cutting, 3-d paper sculpture, quilting etc..


Sachiko Blume is a new Instructional Associate at Broadway. She works with Mrs. Fischer in English and Algebra RSP classes.

Mrs. Blume began her career with SJUSD as a Primary Intervention Program (PIP) aide in 2001 at Los Alamitos Elementary School. Most recently, she was a long-term substitute at Reed Elementary.

Prior to working at Reed, Mrs. Blume was at Steinbeck Middle School supporting RSP Math and Social Studies classes.
