TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CSU APPLICATIONS

All students applying to CSU colleges must submit test scores from either the SAT
Reasoning Test or the ACT Assessment.

The competitive CSU colleges require students to have completed their SAT tests by October of their Senior year, and all others by December of their Senior year.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR UC APPLICATIONS

All students applying UC colleges must submit the following test scores

The SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT Assessment plus Writing.
The critical reading, writing and mathematics scores on the SAT must be from the same sitting. If you take the ACT, you will be asked to report your scores on each section of the test as well as your composite score.

Two SAT Subject Tests. These must be in two different areas, chosen from the following: English, history and social studies, mathematics (Level 2 only), science or language other than English.

It is recommended that students plan to take the requisite SAT/ACT tests by the end of their Junior year. All UC colleges require students to have completed their SAT tests by December of their Senior year.

SAT REASONING TEST

The SAT Reasoning Test consists of three sections: Critical Thinking, Math, and Writing.
Scores from Critical Thinking and Math are used for admission to the CSU. Scores from the Writing section is used for admission purposes to the UC, but not for the CSU.
