What is Academic Expedition?

Academic Expedition is a school wide program that acknowledges the very best student effort and work and honors those who rise to the challenge. It’s a day of day of excitement and fun. It’s Castillero’s unique day of recognition and a way of showcasing the work of our talented students.

Teachers have been selecting and nominating student’s work and projects over the school year. Soon, each department will select the final presentations. On Academic Expedition Day, presenters will present their work to their peers and Guest Experts. Guest Experts are community leaders and leaders in their field who have been invited to give their feedback, share their expertise and talk about their careers; providing students with the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the “real world” from positive role models.

Students, we hope you are turning in your best and finest work to receive nominations from your teachers! This is a way for your work to be validated and honored by your peers, teachers and members of the community!

Parents, you are invited to view Academic Expedition work during Open House on May 27.  DON'T FORGET to congratulate your student when you see them with an Academic Expedition pin that has been awarded by their teacher. It is an honor to be nominated, a sign of excellence, and an indication that your student has gone above and beyond what was asked of them.

Academic Expedition underscores the fact that Castillero is committed to academic excellence as well as the highest standards for work in the performing and visual arts. It is a day to celebrate your student and school’s achievements and visualize what the future can bring!

A program of this magnitude cannot be undertaken without the involvement
of staff and parents. The Academic Expedition committee still needs volunteers to help.  Be a part of the Expedition!
