1.  The Parents’ Guide to Schools K-12 was mailed to their homes 1/8/10. 
A Parentlink message went out that evening.

2.  Choices forms for eligible 5th & 8th graders will be mailed to their homes 1/22/10.

3.  Phase I of Choices
a. Occurs ONLY from 1/25/10 - 2/10/10.
b. Choice forms MUST be returned to students’ 5th grade teachers or their 8th grade Social Studies Teachers*.
* Burnett and Willow Glen Middle Schools return forms to their PE teachers.
c. During Phase I ONLY in a randomized order and depending on space availability.

1) Students returning their forms are eligible to be placed in their 1st Choice schools in the following order:
a) Neighborhood students.
b) VIP students.
c) Students with siblings currently at the school of choice and continuing to be there in 10/11.
d) All others.

2) If students can NOT be assigned their 1st Choice schools due to space, the same process is used for 2nd & 3rd choices.
3) If students can NOT be assigned to their choice 1,2 or 3 schools, they are assigned their attendance boundaried school.
4) Students NOT assigned to their 1st choice school are placed in random order on a wait list for that school ONLY.

4.  Phase II
a. Begins on 2/11/10 and continues through the entire 10/11 school year.
b. The week of March 15th the New School Assignment Letters for 10/11 are mailed to participating students’ homes.
c. Beginning March 22nd at the Burnett Enrollment Center for SJUSD students.

1) Those not participating in Choices may be enrolled into secondary schools for 10/11.
2) This is a first-come, first-served, space-available basis through June 2011.
3) Those students, who wish to transfer to another SJUSD school, may fill out transfer applications through 8/16/10.
