A Day in the Life of a SJMC Student

Each student is scheduled for four high school classes [20 high school credits] and a minimum of two college classes [6 college units/10 high school credits]. The college classes occur on a college schedule, so they may be scheduled in the morning before high school classes, or the evening after high school classes.

San Jose Middle College students must build study time into their schedules in order to keep up with their workload. There is generally time during the day to study, eat lunch before high school classes, and socialize with other Middle College and City College students. Each student will have a unique schedule, dictated by which college classes they are enrolled in.

So, a “typical” day is anything but typical! Students should expect to be in class for about 6.5 hours each day [except Fridays are generally shorter – 4 hours], and be in class until 3:00 PM at the earliest.
