San Jose Unified Police Department

Welcome!

The San Jose Unified School District Police Department is responsible for over 40 schools within its jurisdiction.  The safety of students and staff is paramount and a team effort;  as such, the San Jose Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department and County Probation Department are equally committed to sharing this responsibility.  The commitment to make each and every school in our district a safe learning environment is a huge task and requires all the above agencies to work collaboratively to be effective and resourceful. Our objectives are to initiate proactive community policing practices and crime prevention techniques to prevent potential safety issues from occurring on any of our school campuses.

With your commitment to our students academic success coupled with our expertise and leadership in providing a safe school environment we can make attending San Jose Unified Schools an excellent learning experience.

Respectfully,
Jesse J. Toscano
Chief of Police
