Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, California is moving to the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). These computer-based tests replace the STAR program. CAASPP is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English and math, which California adopted in 2010 to describe what knowledge and skills students need to be well prepared for college and careers, no matter where they come from or where they live.
This year, CAASPP is being field tested to determine how well individual questions allow students to demonstrate what they know and still need to learn.
Who will take the test?
All students in grades 3-8 and in grade 11.
Willow Glen Elementary’s testing schedule is:
Grade 5 Science: April 9 and 10
Grade 3 CAASPP: April 22-25
Grade 4 CAASPP: April 29-May 2
Grade 5 CAASPP: April 28-May 2
Will parents receive test results?
No. Because this is a field test to determine how effective CAASPP is, schools, districts, and students/families will not receive scores.

On January 30, 2014 the SJUSD Board of Trustees approved instructional calendars for the next two years.
Parents interested in enrolling a child in the Kindergarten Two Way Bilingual Immersion program for the 2014-15 school year, must attend an orientation.
Scheduled district and school orientations have been completed, but interested parents may call the school for more information: 408-535-6265.
Hello Everyone! I’m very happy to be teaching the 4th and 5 graders about Physical Fitness while giving the Teachers their Release/Prep times. My focus as a Physical Education (PE) teacher is to guide and support my students to grow, improve, and be all they can be as students and individuals. Kids are awesome, and I will do my best to help them find their awesomeness!
I am the 4/5 Release Teacher for Willow Glen Elementary (Tuesdays - Fridays) and one of three PE teachers at Bachrodt Academy (Mondays). My main job role is to provide the 4th and 5th grade teachers with two release periods a week. My secondary but no less important role is to teach their students the Physical Education curriculum found on the California Content Standards for Physical Education and the California Physical Education Framework.
In accordance with SJUSD wellness guidelines, WGE has adopted a policy regarding classroom parties and celebrations. We appreciate the support of this policy by our families:
