Library Media Center

The Gene and Mickey Long Media Center at Willow Glen High School is a hub of creativity, inspiration and information!

The Media Center provides a comfortable place for students to access and create media. The central area is used for student research and is equipped with a projection screen for large group presentations.  WiFi is available and Internet computers support all daily academic activities.

The Media Center staff assist students in locating books, conducting research, writing essays, printing assignments and producing digital projects.

Gene and Mickey Long are former principles of WGHS.  Upon their passing, a portion of their estate was donated to the Media Center. Their generosity has allowed the Media Center to purchase needed equipment and materials.

From outside your school network, Gale databases can be accessed using “SanJoseUSD” for the password.

Gale Student Resources In Context reference database of magazines, journals, news articles, primary source documents, images, videos, audio files and websites.
Gale Opposing Viewpoints in Context  reference database for contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today’s hottest social issues.
Gale PowerSearch advanced tool for searching content from both Student Resources In Context and Opposing Viewpoints In Context.

Online Catalog

The Willow Glen High School Media Center’s collection is searchable online through the Destiny library management system.  Every student and faculty member is provided a personal library account.  Students and staff may access their account to renew and place a hold on items.  Please ask the Media Center staff if you have questions about searching the online catalog or accessing the personal account.

Visit the San Jose Public Library website to search their catalog and learn about their available locations and free services.

If you are interested in volunteering in the Media Center please contact Kathy Rasmuson.

We have a list of desired items! If you would like to donate used books or purchase a book for our Media Center, please contact us. Thank you for thinking of our students and helping to make the Media Center a valuable resource!
