Sarah Paiva-Academic Counselor
There are no typical days as a middle school counselor, and never a dull moment! I work with students individually, in-group settings, and in the classroom. I collaborate with parents, other counselors, teachers and the administration to help support students achieve their academic best.
“Find what you love to do in life and find a way to get paid for it”! I say this to students when we discuss college and career readiness. And I can say with certainty that this is exactly what I did. I love to talk (a lot) and work with students! I graduated from Chico State University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. I then went to San Jose State University where I received my Masters Degree in Counseling Education. I have worked at the elementary and high school level but my favorite by far is middle school! This is my 11th year at Willow Glen Middle and every year brings something new and exciting.
I love to read, listen to music, watch TV, spend time with family and friends, and laugh! My two sons, husband and dog keep me busy and are the loves of my life.
My office is located in the main office and my phone number is (408) 535-6277 ext. 55228. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Ms. Renya Hill – Academic Counselor
I have had the joy of being an academic counselor for nine and half years. Most of my career has been as a middle school counselor supporting 8th grade student. I currently enjoy splitting my time as an academic counselor for both Willow Glen Middle School and Willow Glen high school.
My focus is to help students be successful. Most of my time is spent working to help students find strategies to improve academically. I provide academic, and career/college awareness through individual counseling, small group counseling, and classroom guidance. I am available to attend parent-teacher conferences at the request of the parent/guardian or teacher, as my schedule allows.
In my free time I love to cook, knit, read, and spend time with my family and friends. I love to travel and spend my vacations exploring new places.
Mrs. Violet Perez – Plus Counselor
Mrs. Rosemary Rodriguez – Attendance and Dropout Prevention Counselor
Working in middle school is challenging but the rewards is what makes it great to work in Middle School. I have been in Willow Glen Middle for the last eight years and before that I was at Leland High School
as Parent/Community Liaison for twelve years. I went back to school and got my Bachelor in Administration of Justice and Masters in Counseling in Education at San Jose State University. I Speak a Second Language , Spanish, and I am able to translate for the Spanish speaking parents.
I am a Student Support Counselor and I also work with attendance. Attendance is a big part of what I do, making sure that the students know how important it is to be in school.
I love to spend time with my family and as a hobby I love to garden.
I am in my office H106 from 7:30 to 3:00pm. My phone number is 408-535-6277x55206. Pleas feel free to call me anytime.
