Founded in 1853, San José Unified is a large, urban school district in San José, California offering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through grade 12. Serving approximately 25,000 students in 41 schools from downtown San José to the Almaden Valley, San José Unified is Silicon Valley’s largest and most diverse school system.

San José Unified has a long and rich history. The district is home to the second oldest public high school in California and has notable alumni who have made important contributions at a local, state, and national level. San José Unified embraces its role as a changemaker, having engaged in transformative practices and weathered controversial and challenging times.
