Measure R Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee

The San José Unified School District was successful at the November 5, 2024, election in obtaining authorization from the District's voters to issue $1,150,000,000 of the District’s general obligation bonds through Measure R. Pursuant to applicable laws, codes, board policy, and Board Resolution 2025-12-12-03, the District has now established an independent citizens’ bond oversight committee (CBOC).

The Committee shall meet at least once each year, but depending on the status of bond projects, will generally meet at least four (4) times per year to review the district’s use of funds from Measure R and ensure that the intent of the voters who approved the measures is being met.

Members of the CBOC 

The Committee shall consist of a minimum of seven (7) members who will be appointed by the Board of Education.  Candidates for the CBOC must live within SJUSD boundaries, may not be SJUSD employees, and may not be doing business with SJUSD.  There shall be representatives from each of the following categories: 

1. Parent of a SJUSD student 

2. Parent and active in PTA 

3. Member of a taxpayers' association 

4. Member of a senior citizens' organization 

5. Member of a business organization 

6. Two or more members at large

Applications will be accepted and considered on a rolling basis in order to maintain an adequate number of committee members from the appropriate categories.  San José Unified is currently seeking CBOC members to fulfill the following categories: 

• Member of a Business Organization 

• Member of a Taxpayers' Association 

• Member of a Senior Citizens' Organization
