Substitute employees are an important part of our team at San José Unified. We are always seeking qualified individuals for a variety of teaching and non-teaching roles. As a large urban school district, we offer many substitute opportunities and can work with you to create a schedule that meets your needs. San José Unified has increased pay rates for (certificated) substitute teachers. Compensation ranges from $200-$350/day, depending on the type of assignment.

Certificated Substitutes

Certificated substitutes with a valid teaching credential or a 30-day sub permit issued by the Santa Clara County Office of Education are welcome to apply. See the criteria to qualify for a 30-day permit.
