Teacher Evaluation System

San José Unified is committed to developing and supporting teachers so that all students have access to a high-quality education. The San José Unified School District Teacher Evaluation System (TES) is the result of collaborative development by district management and the San José Teachers Association (SJTA). It represents a joint commitment of SJTA members and San José Unified leaders to the highest-quality education for every student and the most relevant, highest-quality professional development for every educator.

The TES incorporates specific feedback and goal setting, in service of focusing on the best outcomes for students. It fosters a culture in which every participant is challenged and supported to pursue excellence.
