San José Unified’s classroom placement process is intended to place students in a classroom that is responsive to their learning and needs. This process is completed by school staff, who know the students and the environment in which they will thrive. For schools that have more than one class or period per grade level, multiple data points and perspectives are considered, such as the student’s academic level, behavior, demographic characteristics, and teacher recommendations, to generate balanced classrooms.

Library Databases are also available to all students at every grade level. They provide an indexed collection of magazine, journal, newspaper articles, abstracts, and other information, which has been checked for accuracy and reliability by publishers and then licensed for distribution in a digital format.
