Giving families the tools to succeed
San José Unified is committed to establishing a positive, collaborative relationship with every family. We’re proud to provide unique opportunities and resources for families to engage with and participate in elevating opportunities for your students.
We recently hosted our first Family University session of the 2017-2018 school year at Hoover Middle School. This session was focused on developing leadership skills to help parents and family members play an active role in shaping school and district policies. The next “mini” session on January 27th will focus on the transition from one school level to the next (5th to 6th grade and 8th to 9th grade). Save the date and check our website for details.
Family Code Nights
It was a full house in the Lincoln High School Media Center for Family Code Night, a partnership with the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and the County Office of Education as part of a series of events for Computer Science Education Week. District facilitators — and some of our own high school students — led a bilingual training on the basics of coding for K-8 students and parents.
Family Friendly Workplace Award
For the second year in a row, San José Unified was honored by the Santa Clara County Office of Women’s Policy with their Family-Friendly Workplace Award, which recognizes employers who have implemented policies that address the realities of working families. We were one of only a handful of organizations in the county to receive Gold Level recognition!
