San José Unified recognizes Employees of the Year

SAN JOSÉ, CA—San José Unified recognized the outstanding achievements of its employees during the 2016-17 school year at the district’s annual Employee Service Awards at Gunderson High School on May 16th. Traditionally, this event served to recognize teachers. This year, the event was expanded to include classified and other employees.
The following individuals were named San José Unified Employees of the Year for 2016-17:
- Tracy Decaires, Grounds Equipment Operator
- Gail Ippolito, Instructional Associate, Trace Elementary
- Bertha Marquez, Office Assistant, Hoover Middle School
- Allison Pruitt, Intervention Specialist, Washington Elementary (Teacher of the Year)
“We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking employer, providing a high level of support, continuous growth, and mindful leadership that helps foster and retain a motivated and successful workforce,” said Superintendent Nancy Albarrán, who joined Board of Education members and other district administrators in presenting the awards.
“Our employees make the extraordinary ordinary every day,” added Superintendent Albarrán. “You may never meet some of them, but they are all working together to prepare today’s students to be the thinkers, leaders, and creators of tomorrow.”
