Let the Magic of Summer Reading Begin
Summer is now officially here, but that doesn’t mean learning stops. Summer is one of the best times to delve into a wealth of educational endeavors, beginning with reading. Research has shown that students who read over the summer break naturally increase their literacy skills, helping them stay on track academically and ready for fall when the new school year begins.
Many summer reading programs are available to students of all ages and reading levels. Here are a few to try out:
San José Public Library Summer Reading Program:
Students have access to E-books, audio and read-alouds. To begin: visit SJPL Summer Reading and register for Summer Learning. The program allows students to track their reading progress and enter for a chance to win prizes. Students gain access to eBooks/EMedia, and gives them the ability to stream & download materials. They can even create their own comic/Manga style short story.
All San José Unified students can now access the San José Public Library with their student ID number. Signing in is easy by following these simple steps:
For students with a 6 digit Student ID Number: Enter 21193000 + Student ID Number
For students with a 5 digit Student ID Number: Enter 211930000 + Student ID Number
