Biography:

Born and raised in San José, Kimberly graduated from local schools including Santa Teresa High School. She went on to college at California State University, Long Beach, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. Her parents still live in the Blossom Valley home they bought in 1970. Kimberly began her professional life in the non-profit sector, first as Executive Director for a rape crisis center where she had been a volunteer, then as a Resource and Referral Coordinator for parents and day care providers. Following a transition to the private sector, she has worked for most of the past decade as a Product Support Vice President at SAP, the market leader in enterprise application software. Kimberly also represents SAP on the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Education Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the SVLG Foundation Board. She was a parent leader at two San José Unified elementary schools (Los Alamitos and Gardner Academy) before being elected to the Board of Education in November 2016. Kimberly and her husband, Ted Pierce, a middle school social studies teacher, live in Almaden Valley with their three children — ages 8, 10, and 12. They have both been active participants in Project Cornerstone.
